are you a songwriter or a melodymaker?

in the good old days,
a songwriter meant someone who wrote Music and Lyrics.

someone who wrote a unique blend of Music and Lyrics so right
that it did what it was supposed to do -
express himself.

I used to think I was better at writing melodies than words,
but now I think this differentiation is meaningless.

A song is a song is a song.
It's both music and lyrics.

Songwriting takes practice, not the sit-down-at-piano-for-2-hours-unwillingly practice.
The hard part is finding yourself willing to practice.

These nights,
I'm capturing fleeting feelings,
songwriting.

Hi Ke Wei,

I would like to ask for your opinion, i love singing and thought of being a singer.

However, i dont have any music background, neither do i know how to play the instruments.

So do you think that i'm being realistic?!

Thank you!! (:

hi stephanie,
if you love singing, sing more! sing at ktv, sing in your bathroom, learn from youtube, go for lessons.

i had singing lessons as well when i started out, it gives you a good perspective to hone your own style. :)

a song is a message and an emotion. Just like sometimes it is hard to describe your emotion in words, it is not easy to write it in melodies. try something like writing it down in words and remembering the emotion. Revisit them when you are free or feel something similar. I am sure some of them will eventually turn into great songs one day.

This was really an informative article. I enjoyed reading it a lot. Here is a site that I think will be of great interest to the readers www.quantumstorage.com , Keep up the great work!

Songwriting may be as natural as walking - one foot following the other.

i think only people with training and experience should sing in public, otherwise stick to singing in the shower!
