flight of life

It was the first time I watched a plane land,
all the way from gliding through the clouds,
to glimpsing the twinkling lights of the ships scattered in a calm black sea...
Soaring past the orderly grids of civilisation,
enter the familiar warm glow of streetlamps,
recognising the golf course, the giant ferris wheel,
and finally heading for land, grinding across the tarmac,
the silent machine of flight now rumbling to life.

It was almost like watching the birth of a child.
Breaking into raw, noisy reality from a smooth and woozy place beyond our reach.

p/s Life's short, play more. =P

Edit for betterment. Oh well, I'm just piggy-backing. Sounds a lot like my own facet of life though... Love your metaphor in the last part. =)
