David Tao 123 We Are All Wooden Men World Tour

The first show was held in Shanghai 070707,
I guess it's high time I shared the pictures! :)

For all David Tao fans,
I'm sure you've read about this new tour
where almost 80% of the songs are rearranged!

And I must say it took a while for me to get used to them,
but I'm loving it!
Very groovy, very happening!



The backing vocalists (David Tan, Elisa, and myself) gathered at
David's hotel room to go through our parts first,
and were momentarily distracted by the DOUBLE RAINBOW!

Okk, back to rehearsal. hehe




During the long ten-day rehearsals,
Elisa and I tried out some Beyerdynamic mics to compare sound quality...


in the end
I was convinced to replace my current Shure Beta58A
with the Beyerdynamic Opus 89!
(As seen here)

Although the Shure mic is a proven value-for-money and generally good mic
for all kinds of voices,
I wanted to invest in something better for my weekly gigs,
so decided to give this a try.
The cheaper rates that my music director Kheng Long got for us was also
too tempting to resist!

(P.S. Whenever I whip out my own mic for use at gigs,
many people are usually surprised that I have my own!
Haha very professional right!
But other than sound quality,
I'm really more concerned about hygiene issues as I usually
smother the mic with my lip gloss and saliva. EWW)





So!
After a gruelling ten days of rehearsals we fly off to Shanghai!
Land of the Xiao Long Bao!

We didn't queue up for the famous Nanxiang Xiao Long Bao this time,
and settled for some commoner Xiao Long Bao,
which turned out to be really crappy =S

The crowd loved it.
The rearrangements were fresh,
they went wild everytime they heard the 1st line of the song,
since they usually couldn't recognise the song from the altered intro.



The rain was pouring,
it got heavier throughout the show,
and many fans simply gave up trying to shelter from the rain
and started waving their umbrellas around,
soaking in the rain,
and their adrenaline.

In this tour,
as usual the musicians share in David's limelight.
I sing 天天 with him,
as well as 苏三说, 今天你要嫁给我.

As mentioned on Leelian's program last night,
天天, now an acoustic version
is simply,
David, myself and guitar.

When you duet a love song, with a single guitar,
in front of 25000 people,
its simplicity is magnified
and its impact multiplied...

The press usually likes to publish photos of body contact, apparently.
This was during the song Shanghai-ed 讨厌红楼梦, I think.



I remember vividly that at one point,
during the song 爱我还是他
i was pretty much overwhelmed with emotion
watching the crowd,
soaked silly,
but contented.

In many ways, I thought the rain released all inhibitions,
rather than dampened the crowd.
Everyone was drenched,
they were standing on their chairs
having the best time of their lives.

i’m new to all this Make-Money-Through-Blogging phenomenon,
but I have to say this – Advertlets works!

i’ve yet to try google adsense for the plain reason that something screwed up
because I use different gmail accounts for different purposes –
so this technical glitch has yet to be fixed.

i added a bidvertisers ad box but apparently
it only brings in a few cents for every click.

nuffnang on the other hand, seems to be catching on
but all it does is display a link to its site for more signups
i think only the big players in blogging really get the ads and the cash
whereas other small timers like myself get nothing in the meantime…


Advertlets gives cash for impressions as well, not just clicks on the ad itself
which means my traffic count at my blog counts towards the cash I get 

honestly, not many would click on the ads right…
so ad impressions do make a difference!




YAY!
I can have a free plate of chicken rice and ice lemon tea for lunch!
HAHAHA

It may not be a lot, but it’s something!
Everything starts small!

Girl Power is waking up early morning,
taking a bus to the sale (because if i took a cab i would shoot myself in the foot, it's a SALE, hello!)
and then taking a bus home after
squeezing with the crowd and
queueing for a long long time.
sigh...



the day before i also bought some
comfy flowy casual dresses, shorts, knickknacks...



and a pretty dress from zara!

complete with a spunky belt!
i'm not very into lace and girly dresses
so this suits me just fine :)



and finally some covered shoes for my feet!
(i wear birkenstocks everywhere, even when i travel!:p)



ok time to work and put some cash into my pocket...

881 has been making waves in the local film scene,
I haven't seen it yet
but I will. :)

More importantly to me, the soundtrack is the work of local music geniuses. Eric Ng, Wu Jiahui, Bang Wenfu... many more :)
i had the honour of playing a very small erhu part in one of the songs called Jing Lang Cries or something like that.. when it's just erhu and piano. :)



the melody + the vocals + vocal technique = perfect.

i tried very hard to find a picture of Jim looking normal.
This was the only one - haha!

during JJ's concert while we were backing vocalists...
and he looks really intense while he's at it.. hehe

and he looks normal here BECAUSE he didn't know I was taking a photo!
Otherwise it would be funny faces galore!!!
He is really funny la!

But with all due respect,
he writes the most beautiful and touching songs :)

i know...
i'm reeaallll slow,
to be riding the transformers wave so late...

but i'm really hooked onto the idea of having a
pet transformer!

ok i may be making it sound all girly
but if only my sony ericsson was my pet transformer!
that would be cute.

having said that,
while watching the movie
i thought i would go buy that cube/all-spark and hang it on my neck

so i could conveniently transform any gadget into my pet, if need be.

but after much frantic googling
there isn't such said merchandise!
i think transformers should branch out to embrace female fans la!

hennessy artistry party in guangzhou!

exciting!
i was looking forward to meeting justin and hear him sing,
frankly i was never very into cantopop,
plus with the little amount of mainstream coverage they get...
tho i do enjoy some songs that sometimes reach me.

again, hennessy housed us in one of the most expensive hotels -- the westin,
and i had 2 double beds all to myself!

so one was pre-shower
the other was post-shower.
HA!

it was terribly warm at 37degrees i didn't set a single foot out of the hotel
we just had all our meals in the hotel
and i soaked in my room watching MTV for the snippets of free time we got.
good to update myself on all the latest stuff
since i don't listen to the radio...

jaychou, jj and leehom all the rage now...


again, hennessy branded an entire expo hall like a club

and this time round the band was split into 2 tiers
