sharing photos have never been easier...
we take a photo and send it straight to our blog or Facebook and tag everyone in it.
these photos were taken by Johnny from Beijing EMI in MARCH 2008, during David Tao's tour.
and he just emailed it to me!
The fact that he remembered, and took the effort to, is heartwarming! <3
David Tao's tour is already over, and his album is hitting the shelves very very soon!!!
You can check out www.youtube.com/user/D6T9TV
for many behind the scenes production videos!
And also, my voice is finally featured on DT's album!!!
Just a few lines but still!!! :D :D :D
Wooooooo!!!

Plastic Mannequin Love (original song!)
I have been sufficiently traumatised
by the realisation of how ALL the plastic we've ever used in our lifetime,
are still on planet earth - either in landfills or floating around in the ocean.
Read more of my rants on this!
Do you remember this picture I posted?
A plastic mannequin head, bruised and battered, eyes wide open, waiting.... waiting... waiting...
She's waiting for something.
We all know the wait is forever.
Plastic is forever.
And so I wrote a song for her.
This is the first time I'm uploading an original song, played in the bedroom :)
You can download the mp3 of this Youtube version :)

Plastic Mannequin Love
Music and Lyrics by Tay Kewei
Im writing a song for the universe
Im sending it out to space
If there was a boy who could hear my thoughts
Across the street in the window display
Im writing a song for the universe
To rescue me someday
I never had the chance to tell my love
I loved him since that suit in grey
Im sailing, sailing
In this great pacific garbage patch
My love for you is forever
Nothing will break me down
Im sailing, sailing
You are nowhere to be found
I believe one day youll join me
And well sail round and round, round and round
Oh is that you I see
Illusions they keep haunting me
O! tragedy

upcoming showcase @ Esplanade Waterfront :)
irony is ...
trying to be healthy (i am crazy about yoga these days) but sleeping at 5am.
aiming to be environmentally conscious but driving a car.
being a singer but TRYING to play the guitar, for my upcoming showcase with Einein.
O THE HORROR!
this Trying-To-Play-The-Guitar stint has reduced me to a fumbling, nervous idiot onstage.
i hate it. :(
Kewei & Einein showcase
Esplanade Waterfront
Friday 17 July
730pm-815pm
one set only, which is why I decided to TRY to play guitar.
I'll be singing some songs from my blog radio, as well as Ein's songs - all originals!
You can check out the facebook event here, and also see our nice photos from HK shoot!
Kewei & Friends showcase
Esplanade Waterfront
Sunday 19 July
730pm-930pm
two sets, with a bigger band and with even BIGGER CAST!
I'll be singing my originals, together with Alfred, Ginny, Dawn, Leon, my sis Kexin
basically its the team from Yours Truly.
Then I'll leave the guitar-playing to the experts! Yahoo!

people power
some things, you just can't achieve alone.
but like all other things, they start from one person.
To quote Seth Godin, (since I can't put it any better than he did)

To quote Seth Godin, (since I can't put it any better than he did)
My favorite part happens just before the first minute mark. That's when guy #3 joins the group. Before him, it was just a crazy dancing guy and then maybe one other crazy guy. But it's guy #3 who made it a movement.
Initiators are rare indeed, but it's scary to be the leader. Guy #3 is rare too, but it's a lot less scary and just as important. Guy #49 is irrelevant. No bravery points for being part of the mob.
We need more guy #3s.

live consciously.
I keep thinking strange thoughts these days.
Trying to think out of the box,
trying to avoid a mindless living.
I think about what truly matters to me,
avoiding (if I can) the usual mainstream past-times such as movie-watching, hanging out for drinks, shopping.
It seems theses activities are the default past-times for city-dwellers, which I find hard to subscribe to sometimes.
I read about environmentalism, and learn about the destructiveness of consumerism.
Do we need so many clothes, shoes, bags? Makeup? Bottles of skincare?
Advertisements everywhere - on TV, in malls, in magazines, on radio, on celebrities,
they keep telling us that we WANT those stuff,
the latest iPhone,
the latest Loewe bag.
Honestly, I don't.
Once that switch is flipped, it's miraculous how differently you view shopping.
I have been less and less interested in shopping (which bears no good seeing that I need pretty clothes to perform), more and more interested in decluttering.
Can you believe a man chose to take up the challenge and live with only 100 items for a whole year?
I know, I think I have more than 100 items for makeup and skincare already.
I'm starting with the man in the mirror,
I'm buying less.
I'm still thinking of a practical way to rid of all my unwanted stuff,
which are still in great condition.
I might sell them here, or not.
Will think about it.
hoarding is emotional,
but i know there is so much junk in my drawers that remain untouched for years...

rainbows of love
to all those who knew me from ProjectDIY days,
you would know this song!
(finally a new song playing on my blog!)
ProjectDIY was a group I started with
Dayvid Foo (songwriter/producer/arranger) and
Anne Ho (lyricist/webmaster) almost 5 years ago...
We wrote songs and posted them online :)
As simple as that :)
We were featured in the press for a little bit,
and happy to have gained a little recognition,
but our paths have forked since then!
Our website died a natural death,
but you can hear snippets of our songs in this interview still!
We are still working on music in our own ways though :)
Anyway...
It's amazing to hear that one of the songs we worked on so long ago
has been picked by Janice 卫兰!
She's releasing an English album on 17 July, and this will be the 1st plug!

singing competitions
urgh!
i spent the entire Sunday watching FANTASTIC vocalists battle it out live to win a spot on Taiwanese 星光大道...
these guys are the cream of the crop, many of them are alumni of Singapore reality TV singing competitions, school competitions, etc.
all i can say is, if you wanna join the competition, you subject yourself to its rules.
there are losers and winners.
if you win, don't let your head get too big.
if you lose, it doesn't mean you suck.
it's so hard!
i think the only good thing out of all this is that you gain experience,
by putting yourself through all this trauma and stress,
and eventually learn something about yourself
you never would have learnt otherwise.
onward, fellow singers. :)
ONWARD! my dear friends, alfred, carrie, diya :)
