advertlets bloggers live in concert yo :)

check out the little advertlets block on my left panel!
thank you advertlets for the little bulletin!

the past 3 days in KL has been nothing but traumatising.
on the way to KL i felt my throat drying up
and the next day I woke up with such a major sore throat i was FROG-MAN.

imagine a cross between a croak and a manly voice, that is.

i religiously lived by the hour to Klinik Kok's strongest antibiotic
and slept in the entire day, even skipping my first rehearsals with the KL band,
and had soupy noodles for every meal since.

The next day I went for rehearsals but coughed nonstop everytime I tried to talk/sing.

Of course my fellow advertlet blogger Dennis had to endure my constant hunger pangs, diva princess attitudes of being too cold, need a jacket, need water, need lozenges etc...

but he nursed me back to health! :)

We just came back from our 1st showcase at Bangkok Jazz and it was a success!
My throat was numb from all my red difflam lozenges, my nose was kinda blocked,
but i did ok!

Dennis was da bomb as usual!

Can't believe it's 6am now.
Gonna crash and wake for our 2nd and FINAL show tmr!
If you're in KL, come by to Bangkok Jazz!
Show starts at 10pm tmr!

friday night

long and tiring day.

i come home, put down my bags, and feel like connecting with the world through a video.

so i sit down, and start to sing.

halfway through, friend calls and i realise i had completely forgotten about a party i was supposed to go to!
when friday nights become like this, something is very wrong.

this video isn't perfect -
some chords are wrong,
some parts can be better sung,
but it is real.
it is right now. :)

Singapore & Malaysia Showcase!

Am excited about an upcoming showcase at Esplanade Concert Hall.

Although it's gonna be a very quick lunchtime event,
it will be an awesome experience to play in this venue. :)

On The Road with Kewei
24 Jun, Tuesday
Esplanade Concert Hall

Seeing the world has taken on a new meaning for Kewei, backup vocalist to Chinese music superstars like David Tao, JJ Lin Junjie and Zhang Hui Mei (A*Mei).

Having toured – and currently still touring – the world with them, Kewei definitely has a resume to boast about.

With a versatile but distinctive voice that goes from jazz to R&B, from soul and pop with ease, she delivers her favourite songs from the road like Pu Tong Peng You by David Tao, Ren Zhi by A*Mei, and more.

Lee Ein Ein on keys
Daniel Chai on guitar
Dennis Lau on violin

Free admission!
Drop by during lunchtime! Free parking @ Esplanade! :D

RSVP here on facebook!

Various friends have commented on my act-cute larger than life headshot on the Esplanade poster of this event...

The truth is... I specially took some pictures for the theme On The Road!
But couldn't use them in time for printing!

Here you go!

Next... in Kuala Lumpur!

DiGi Presents: Walk With You featuring Tay Kewei and Dennis Lau
27 & 28 Jun, Fri & Sat
10pm onwards
Bangkok Jazz, Chulan Square
Kuala Lumpur

For two nights, Jun 27 and 28,
two dynamic musicians,
Singaporean songbird Tay Kewei and
Malaysian violin sensation Dennis Lau,
will serenade and thrill the crowd at an exclusive event
brought to you by DiGi and Bangkok Jazz.

Solo violinist Dennis has shared stage with Taiwan popstar David Tao as well and some of Malaysia's most popular artists. In 2007, he teamed up with James Boyle and The Ragged Tigers for the Penang Island Jazz Festival as well as the Genting International Jazz Festival. Last year, Dennis and The Ragged Tigers also represented the country at the Cultural Jazz Festival in Korea.

Both artistes are in the midst of recording their individual albums and would be giving the crowd a chance for a sneak peek to some of their originally composed tracks.

For a night of top notch performances and smooth rhythms, the duo will be backed by a group of talented musicians:
Wilson Jong on piano
Eric Kok on guitar
Ken Chung on bass
Sudin on drums.

pretty in pink to match the poster :)

So we'll be putting up 2 nights of pop-jazz-funk originals and covers,
I'm so excited!

If you're from KL, let me know if you're coming! :D
It's my first time performing in KL!

RSVP here on facebook!

random updates!

our dear chanel specially wrote a song for the Sichuan earthquake disaster,
and the live performance was a resounding success!

It was sung by Chanel and the rest of our talented ZPGY
at a charity concert this past weekend at EZ50,
organised by Surin from Resonance Studios :)

Yes, ZPGY, all 20+ of us,
got into a studio and recorded our very own version of the song!

Featuring a stellar cast of Chanel Pang, Dawn Wong, Alfred Sim, Tay Kewei, Ginny Lin, Edmund Cheh, Donnie Cheh, Lee Ein Ein, Kitty Tan, Juliana Poh, YC, XiaoB, Ah Gong, Biqin, Madeline Tan, Josh Bryan Ho, Ruth Chua, Derrick Tia, Wilman Lau, Mark Shi and many more :)

I had to miss out on the performance,
due to Joseph and Adeline's wedding :)

Nevertheless it was a good one with my super team!
smart black jackets and a bridesmaid wannabe :)

this was from James and Cheryl's wedding,

love it!

random pic with kitty darling

an old friend popped by wala randomly with a photographer friend :)
thanks johnny for the pic!

performed at the Singapore Flyer at a Lufthansa Airlines event,
it was an awesome experience!

we opened with songs like Come Fly With me, Fly Me To The Moon,
Leaving on a Jetplane... you get the picture :p

with Nic Osman, Daniel Purnomo and Jonathan Ang

and Dennis once again!
Our erhu-violin duet is a force to be reckoned with ;P

i love the Greek Theatre at the Singapore Flyer,
reminds me of the dearly missed Esplanade Waterfront...

i don't miss the soundchecks under the sweltering heat though...

in theme with FLYING,
2 ex-Cirque du Soleil artistes flew in from LA
for a mindblowing aerial ballet stunt act

more upcoming gigs soon,
