Immunity is King!

As Covid takes over our lives, it is a harrowing experience for parents with young children. As a mom of 3 boys, aged 5 years, 2 years and 1 month old, their health is of utmost importance to me.

With Momo and Pian Pian attending childcare which exposed them to higher risks of catching illness such as colds, stomach flu, HFMD, etc; and with Qiu Qiu still developing his immature immune system, I would do anything to strengthen their immunity. Since the gut contains more than 70% of the immune cells in the body, gut health is crucial for developing a strong immune system. That is why I feed them FAMIBIOTICS®, a quadrupled premium pre + probiotics supplement formulated with Lactoferrin and DHA.

Since Qiu Qiu may gain the most from FAMIBIOTICS® during his first 1000 days of life, I am actually grateful that I was introduced to it while I was pregnant with him. The term "first 1,000 days" describes a child's life from the time of conception until they turn two years old (24 months). During this period, their immune system, body, and brain all significantly develop and grow. Each day of this journey is unique and has a lasting impact on how he develops, grows and learns —not just now, but for the rest of his life!

Pregnant during Covid19!

I initially blogged this for another portal,
but since they decided not to go ahead with the collaboration,
I thought I would post it on my own blog for memories' sake! :)

--------------------------------------------------

What an unprecedented time that we live in,
and to be pregnant & to give birth during this period of uncertainty!

36 weeks pregnant 32 weeks pregnant

I consider myself lucky that this is my second child -
my son Momo is now 2.5 years old.
I can only imagine the nerves if I had to experience my first childbirth during Covid.

As a second-time mom, I know exactly what I need for a newborn -
from bathing and diapering, to feeding and sleeping, to breastfeeding!
In fact, I breastfed Momo exclusively from birth till about 14 months,
and weaned him at about 18 months after he took well to formula milk.

Osaka Kyoto Ishikawa trip with the JR West Rail Pass!

Finally took a trip with my family & little Momo -
we went to Osaka/Kyoto/Ishikawa and a bit of Okayama/Kobe
with the 7-day Kansai Hokuriku Area pass!

We made the booking at JTB
(You can book at NTA, HIS, and any other travel agency in Singapore)
and upon arrival at Osaka Kansai Airport
we exchanged for our passes right at the
JR Ticketing Office at the Airport Station.

Everyone is familiar with Osaka & Kyoto
but for the lesser known parts of Japan,
we had Irene So help to plan and recommend our itinerary.

You can consult her for trip planning,
as she is an expert in lesser known parts of Japan!
If you find JR West Rail Pass confusing,
she can also advise you on that.

We checked out Universal Studios on our very first day!

7 Day Margaret River + Perth Itinerary with a 2 year old toddler

I have such fond memories of farm stay in Perth as a child,
and the perfect weather, fresh produce, farmstays and rolling green grass makes
Perth + Margaret River such a great vacation for young families!

Momo's favourite song had been Old McDonald Had A Farm for the longest time,
so besides bringing him to the zoos in Singapore,
I really looked forward to a legit farm stay in Perth :)

Read on for my full itinerary!

Perth Day 1: Breakfast Cafe Hopping / Fremantle Market

We arrived in Perth at 6am,
so I checked out cafes that opened from 7am onwards.

After picking up our car from Hertz,
(it was super fuss free and simple)
we headed to La Veen Coffee.

Day 2 Margaret River - Farmer's Market & Luxury Escapes Ultimate Degustation Menu at Leeuwin Estate

Farmer's Market is only available on Saturday mornings -
I highly recommend it,
so if you could schedule your trip to coincide that will be great!

Day 3: Burnside Organic Farm / Lunch at Glenarty Road / Hamelin Bay

We stayed at Burnside Organic Farm
and I highly recommend it if you're keen to stay at a real working farm!

Day 4: Whale Watching / Lunch at Eagle Bay Brewing Co / Olio Bello Lakeside Glamping

The whale watching did not disappoint!

We spotted so many whales
and many of them spouting water in the air!
But no photos cuz it was VERY DIFFICULT to snap them,
they were usually too quick!

Day 5: Wonky Windmill Farm animal visit + fruit picking / Grazing picnic lunch at Happs Winery / Twilight Ngilgi Cave Tour

Wonky Windmill Farm was great fun for Momo!
We could feed all the animals like alpacas, donkeys, sheep, cows, goats, pigs, etc

Day 6: Busselton Jetty Experience / Crown Perth

Busselton Jetty train ride is definitely fun for the kids!
It was a beautiful ride out to sea.

Perth Day 7: Photoshoot at King's Park

We engaged SweetEscape for a family shoot in Perth,
and chose King's Park as the location!

My LG TwinWash is a laundry saviour!

Ever since we we moved into our own home after marriage, I'm a great fan of technology especially when it helps with the endless manual chores!

My epidural birth story

Having heard so much about labour pains,
I was one of those new moms who decided I would TRY to see
if I could tahan the pain before deciding if I would go for an epidural shot.

I'm not a purist who insists on experiencing the most natural state of childbirth,
but I didn't think I would want to opt for epidural right from the beginning as well.
Part of me wanted to test my own limits and see if I could handle it -
if all our mothers could do it, why couldn't I?

Although the politically correct advice is that every birth experience is personal and different,
and we shouldn't compare, but don't you feel it seemed like a badge of honour
if someone went through labour without any drugs? 🥇

Bali bound with a 6 month old baby!

Ok officially our first trip overseas with Daddy now! Bali bound! ✈️

Momo went on his first with me to Hong Kong on my work trip,
singing for Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival,
and Alfredo was sooo sore that he missed out!

Momo is pretty okay on flights as long as he is entertained...
most of the time we leave it to the passengers around us to help do the job!

Mother-son twinning got everyone thinking Momo was a girl!

D'Elegance Shapewear for my postpartum recovery!

10 weeks postpartum
It's been 3 months since Momo came into our lives,
and I am really loving every moment of it!

I was also blessed to have had a smooth pregnancy,
and was always very grateful when I was complimented on my pregnancy glow :)

#35weeks
I did not have any morning sickness and ate really well,
developed a sweet tooth and in fact
put on 15 kg (from 45kg-60kg) throughout my pregnancy!

what to eat at Fremantle/Margaret River!

when at Fremantle...

1. Cicerellos Fish and Chips

Travelling as a couple means you can only try so much food,
especially when Aussie portions are generous.

When confronted with the eternal Cicerellos VS Kailis dilemma at Fremantle,
one can only rely on the trust you place in your good friends' taste buds.

The Traditional Fish and Chips
was nice!
I definitely liked the texture of the fish.

I later found out from another friend who had some Premium fish or whatever,
that she asked what was the difference between Traditional and Premium
and found out that  mine was frozen fish and not fresh caught.
-_-"

Isn't Traditional meant to be the best since it started?
huh huh huh?
*pout*

We had the crispy prawns bucket
which you should not have.
Save your calories for something else.

What to eat in PERTH! (and what not to...)

1. Sayers Sister
Best Brunch ever.

I enjoyed this so much that my local friend said I should then try the main cafe
Sayers Food.

Warm rustic vibes here with vintage armchairs and ornate lights

I had the beetroot salmon gravlax with the famous scrambled eggs

and Alfred had the Potato Rosti which was super delish!

Hot Chocolate done right!
This came in a luscious creamy jug topped with coconut flakes,
and chunks of white and dark chocolate in shot glasses,
with 2 marshmellows.
BLISS.
