Finally, a new addition to Kewei Radio!

楊宗緯's latest album hits the shelves,
his 3rd plug 幸福的風 is written by 谢布玮 :)
(who also wrote 该忘了你对不对 by 周惠.)

The original demo (now the 1st track on Kewei Radio)
ie 1st version of the song was sung by yours truly,
and it's called

Photobucket
we're in the city of guangzhou,
plenty of skyscrapers in the vicinity

Photobucket
some bravehearts strolling along the rooftop

Photobucket
david tao checks out his vocoder during rehearsals,
which distorts his voice electronically.
check out the effect as he sings it for 鬼

Photobucket
are we charlies angels or what! a blonde, a brunette and... a black.

Photobucket
we rehearse till the sun sets...

in this series, you will experience for the first time
the glamourous life of touring musicians, illustrated:

Photobucket
fine dining

Photobucket
our changing/dining/rest rooms

Photobucket
you can smell our washroom from 500m away.
EVERYONE used these 2 cubicles - the production crew, sound crew, makeup and fashion dept, random workers, musicians, dancers etc.

Photobucket
random pic of elisa's bag that i really like.
it's smiling at ya!

we pretty much just have to look forward to a good supper at the end of the day.
hey, we are in the land which gave birth to Cantonese cuisine..!

Photobucket
unbelivably good 青椒

Photobucket
had to wolf down the food before coming to my senses to take a picture
beef and sprouts marinated in some orangey, citrus gravy. A-MAZ-ING.

Photobucket

Photobucket
classic farmer's food,
some absolutely normal carrot soup
which they managed to make it taste like heaven.

Photobucket
finally, some award winning desert:

Photobucket

Photobucket
with almond powder, and a creamy sweet&salty egg-yolk filling.... *droooooool*

love song.

yesterday,
i was in the car listening to all that Mandarin crap on radio,
and then i heard this strings intro for a song,
and i said, wow this sounds nice.

then the strings stop.

and the drumbeat rolls in.

in that 2 seconds, the OS in my head went:
the song better not suck.

then i hear the voice,
it's fang da tong.

i swear, I SHRIEKED.

the driver suffered such a bad shock he very nearly spun out of control,
but he's a good driver ;)

and I continued shrieking,
OMG OMG OMG OMG it's LOVE SONG!
OMG IT's FANG DA TONG!! AARGHHHHHHHHHHHRGHGHGHGHGHGH

i have to explain myself.
i heard someone sing this song in KTV before,
but never really heard it properly.

despite being a fan,
i'm not a order-cd-presale kinda fan,
so honestly I didn't run out first thing in the morning to buy the cd
when I saw his new album out on tv.

but THE FACT that the strings intro struck me amidst all the mediocre crap that is mainstream music,
THAT VERY FACT just proves to myself that good music, and good taste,
can be smelt from a mile away.
or in this case, be heard from the very first few bars of music.

and why couldn't that intro belong to anybody else?
it could have been jaychou or leehom or davidtao or anyone else?
but it had to be him.

i hardly ever gush about Chinese music anymore.

what's been playing on my mp3 player?
fang da tong.
his 2 previous albums.

some friends have commented that his latest CD
is not as great as his previous one,
but to me, his style is one word: distinct.

and i like it too much to fault him for being uncreative or repetitive or whatever.

just give me more of the same thing,
it works for me :D

what i do,
how i started singing backups in concerts,
how concerts and rehearsals are like,
recording of backing vocal tracks for CDs,
how singing backing vocals is different from singing solo etc

Strategically released as a Valentine's Day gift,
this new strawberry flavour of the ipod nano
comes in a 4GB and 8GB model.

When the 1st edition of the ipod nano was released,
i went out immediately and got myself a white one,
my sister the black one.
And engraved on the back of my sister's ipod,
"kexin's impeccable music taste in here." :p

I've always been a fan of the nano than the regular sized ipod,
now...
this strawberry one is very enticing.

My little sister just celebrated her birthday,
this ipod nano, or the Tiffany-coloured one,
is definitely on the wish list :)

The brilliant 2-inch display also lets users watch videos and photos,
and delivers up to 24 hours of audio playback or 5 hours of video playback.
All within a 6.5mm profile,
encased within a sleek anodized aluminum top
and polished stainless steel back.

Features include Cover Flow, so you can scroll through your entire music collection by album cover artwork using the Click Wheel.

All these features make me helplessly addicted to naming my albums right,
I especially get a kick out of seeing my Mandarin albums in Mandarin.
(although this means it's harder to search for in iTunes :p)

this song peels off my skin, layer by layer,
reaches into the bloody crevices of my chest
and caresses my heartstrings to my death...
and I won't even notice I'm gone.

the word LUSH (even in caps)
can't even begin to describe a fracaiton of the sound they mke.

and pardon the typos while i wipe the drool off my keyboard.

I'm reminded of the BoyzIIMen stuff I listened to when I was younger,
and how they used to move me.

Somehow, music, like wine, when aged with time,
always tastes better.

New music now just doesn't taste the same.
Nor does it give the thrills,
the way I felt when I was a virgin to all these genres that were unheard of
when all I listened to as a child was 93.3FM and 95.8FM.

which brings me to this next bit,
my parents had brought me up on a diet of Chinese Orchestra and Peking Opera, and nonstop 958FM.
how did I ever start singing jazz even?

einein asked me this once,
and i realised that in the pre-internet era,
i first heard swinging Sinatra jazz in midair on inflight audio entertainment,
and it was something i fell instantly in love with.
those niche channels were a godsend.

that and the occasional soundtrack appearances in romantic comedies of yesteryear.

So anyhoo,
here I am now,
drowning endlessly in music,
online :)

ps. thanks to junwei for sharing the songs,
and always knowing exactly what hits the spot. ;)

wakao Macau!

blogging in a trippy hotel room @ Hotel Lisboa, in Macau now.
it's my 1st time here!

8 degrees celsius = very very cold.

We braved the biting wind in search of Portugese food,
but it turned out to be a great setup for
a hot soupy noodle supper and hot pearl milk tea :D

We're here for a short show for David Tao,
he's part of the act for the opening of a new hotel, Ponte 16,
which happens tomorrow.

Right outside my window,
the psychedelic explosion of colours that is the Grand Lisboa,
ala Flamingo of Las Vegas in the 90s,
never sleeps.
